Macros in Access 2010

I was just converted to Access 2010. I have two questions about macros:
1. Is there a way to go back to the old view vs. the screen hogging new view with the “macro builder”? As an experienced Access user, that is a painfully slow way to work with macros.
2. Is there a way to copy specific rows / actions from one macro to another? I want to reuse part of a macro from a different database and cannot find a way to simply copy the actions I want.

I’m not an expert but I do know you can export the macros as XML that you can import into another database.

I played with macros in the beta but found too many issues and haven’t had another go since the RTM.

Unless I want to publish to the web and a Sharepoint server then I’ll stick to VBA.

With the issues I came accross in the beta I decided that if I wanted to publish to the web then I’d probably go to VWD instead. It’s more like Access than 2010 macros and sharepoint.

I’m a bit puzzled – I believe you were using Access 2007 for the last year or more, and the Macro view in 2010 is pretty much the same as it was in 2007. The principal difference is that the individual statements expand vertically rather than being displayed horizontally as they were previously. However they can be collapsed and expanded using the + and – symbols. The ability to work back and forth between two macros is dependant on whether or not you are using tabbed “documents” or floating “documents” in the Options for the current database. Floating seems a bit more difficult as you have to size the windows individually in order to see both. However, I am able to copy a single action or multiple ones, but the paste seems to behave oddly. I get only a partial string that appears to be XML. I’ll do a bit more detective work and see what I can come up with.

UPDATE:
It appears there is a glitch in the paste process when you copy a macro statement and try to use the right-click Paste to copy it – the result appears to be an XML representation of the statement. However if you use the CTRL-V method it does work correctly. The right-click Copy does seem to work correctly. I’ve passed the issue on to the Access Team.
