• Malwarebytes problem?

I downloaded the Malwarebytes update a couple of days ago. The notification asked if I wanted to restart my computer to complete the process; I said no, turned off my computer (XP) normally, and figured it would complete upon the next start as many updates do. The next time I started the computer, there was a black screen with choices to start the computer normally (which wouldn’t work), safe mode, etc. or go back (forgot the wording), as in a restore point. I did the latter and all was fine. Any ideas on why this happened, if it was the Mal. update? Let me emphasize that I am no youngster, not particularly technical, and have taught myself what I know about using a computer.

A Malwarebytes update should not cause a problem. However, you are always better off completing the update/upgrade process before powering off a PC even if that means an extra re-boot then shut down.

Thank you for the advice. I’ll keep that in mind from now on.

I like this product quite a bit and have installed it many machines.

On a few occasions I have also had some strange “didn’t seem to install correctly” events. On those occasions, I generally resorted to performing a reboot (to start fresh), performing an un-install if possible (via Add/Remove Programs), reboot (again, to start fresh), and a re-install.

      This has worked for me.
