Another major release and still no fix for arguments to external processes getting messed up, which was reported to Microsoft connect way back in 2008. I appreciate that they made powershell open source, but nobody is going to want to use powershell on Linux or as a general-purpose shell if basic functionality is broken.

This is just a foretaste of what’s to come. Expect all manner of additional support to be extended to Windows 7.

Because I’ve just upgraded to Windows 10!

Same as they were going to get rid of Microsoft security essentials not.  They could have made a bundle off us millions of home users for the extended support.

No, a reboot isn’t necessary.  Installing PowerShell 7 doesn’t replace Windows PowerShell 5.1 so the existing shortcuts you’re used to seeing on a Windows 10 system will still point to 5.1.

FWIW, most Windows users should, IMHO, stick with PSv5+ as it supports many Windows specific options not available in V7.

In as much as PowerShell 5.1 is baked in and works well enough, I’ve uninstalled PowerShell 7.0 for now.
