Probably a result of VBScript being disabled fully now, as of that 2nd July IE patch, the change likely being included in all August bundled patches now.

I’m not an Epic registered user – but my hospital network and med professionals all use Epic.

I bet Epic relies on VB.

I can’t get into the site. Can you post the relevant portions here?

Microsoft has disabled VBScript in Internet Explorer beginning with the Aug 13th updates.

My VB5 scripts which I wrote for image processing still work, perhaps because they have no macros and because they simply call on functions within the image processing program.

The bug seems nothing related to the VBScript changes in IE 11 for Win 7 up to Win 8.1 introduced on August 13, 2019, as I mentioned here – because this has been implemented for Win 10 in July.

From what I got as feedback to my German blog post August 2019 Updates: Ärger mit VB6, VBA und VBScript, it seems to be related to array handling (see also my English blog post).

I got feedback from Australia, where over 600 customers of a person are affected. A German blog reader who send the tip says his XenApps are affected.

First reboot after patching and I got a vbscriot error related to wacom.exe. I installed the latest wacom driver and rebooted. No error that time. Just confirming something is definitely not right.

What Driver version and did you install all the Wacom bloatware as well. I have a Bamboo Tablet, Driver 5.3.5-3,  and a few Facebook tablet plugins as well, 32 and 64 bit variants.

I thought that I had elected to only Install the Base Bamboo Tablet drivers without any of the bloat and still that Social networking/FB plugins are there installed as well for FB interoperability that I do not need or want.

What Wacom Tablet are you using and it’s good to know for fixing the problem by installing the latest driver but I do not want any of the bloatware that ships with Wacom’s products and I only need that tablet for Blender 3D, Gimp, and Krita, usage mostly.

But I’m using Norton Security Suite on one of my laptops so its a longer wait for me and it’s still DEFCON 2 anyways. I’ll also be waiting for more Telemetry checking going forward for MS and their Security Only KB’s needing that extra vetting.

That AUG 2019 dated SHA-2 servicing stack KB, does that replace the earlier KB of the same KB-numbering and is it required to be able to install any SHA-2 signed KBs going forward. I remember installing an earlier variant a few months back but I’ll have to wait for Symantec/Norton fixes before I can patch that one laptop that’s using Norton Security Suite.

More issues and Plenty of The Sky Is Falling apoplexy from some Press Outlets concerning what is just the usual for MS’s Security Updates. The Borking-Force is strong with this month’s Security Patches from the folks in Redmond.

The version 2 SAH-2 patch does not replace the version 1, according to the MS pages for the version 2.

Not sure if this is related to VB, but this is software (fund raising and accounting for nonprofits and schools has been affected by August patches…

Who still runs year 2000 VB6 ?Microsoft shouldn’t fix this.

Mainstream Support for Microsoft Visual Basic 6.0 ended on March 31, 2005
Visual Basic 6.0 extended support ended in March 2008.

Regarding Visual Basic 6 support people are confusing the support for the programming environment (which has ended) and the support of the runtime libraries  needed to run all the old programs made with VB6. Current statement is that MS will support the runtime for at least as long as Windows 10 and Server 2019. It is the runtime that they have now broken with the latest patch.

I wonder what percentage of runtime libraries on MS’s OSs are legacy and that’s coming from someone with a Laptop that has its interactive User Manual dependent on Silverlight.

Once again this whole thing boils down to that MS decision to gut its in house QA/QC and foist that process onto its end users.

It sure is a BETA life for all of MS’s OS end users instead of a better life, and things are going to get worse once Windows 10 is the only option and less control over keeping those Borked KBs from KO-ing more systems.

All user manuals should be PDF or some other document format with supported libraries that’s sure to not become legacy as quickly as some of MS’s Soup Du Jour offerings are.

I just removed a post that links these VB problems with H-1B visas.

Aside from the fact that it’s preposterous, political discussions and personal diatribes have no place here.

I work with people in the US with H-1B visas every day. Some of my friends have H-1B visas. Others wish they could get one.

If you use the internet, or Windows, you rely on them. Nuff said.

Ivanti Workspace Control (formerly RES Workspace Manager / PowerFuse) seems to have been hit by this issue. They have released a one-off patch and will release a full patch next week.

Well, we have a couple or three weeks for all of this to sort out. Until then, it’s good to have the MS DEFCON System. MS DEFCON-2 or even 1 seems very appropriate about now.
