Microsoft to Stop Supporting Windows 7 & 8.1, Users Forced to Update to W10

I just happened across this article:

In it, it said that “Critical updates for Windows 7 and Windows 8.1 will also be halted in July.”

Anyone have any idea what that is about? Doesn’t make sence as update for 7 should go to 2020 and 8.1 to 2023. There is also no source for that statement.

There’s some context to the statement that you may have missed.

Note that they’re talking about “newer generation CPUs” and that Intel Kaby Lake, Qualcomm 8996, and AMD Bristol Ridge Ryzen CPUs are mentioned, specifically.
