Missing Arial Regular Font in Windows 7

Hi, just discovered that the Arial Regular font is not in this new Windows 7 HP computer. Discovered it when text in boxes on a flowchart wouldn’t show.

Is there a simple way to get this font? The Windows typography site was as confusing as I usually find Windows sites and the only Arial font I could find there was not free.

Arial should’ve been part of the Windows 7 install. Have you checked the C:WindowsFonts folder to make sure it is missing?

Yes, all the arial fonts except the regular one were there: arial dark, italic, etc. The HP PC came with Windows 7 Home Premium installed already so I don’t have an installation disk.

Thanks. I’ve gone through that thread and the link to the EU solution, but the download doesn’t specify Windows 7, just up to XP. From the thread, it sounds as if users have used it for Windows 7, however. Should I post that question on the MS thread or just cross my fingers and download? There’s always System Restore!

It is just a font. Go ahead and try it. System Restore could be your friend if it causes problems.

Okay, here goes. Will post back …

Update: Ta da! It worked perfectly! Got the font in the font list in Windows – Fonts now and it appears on the flowchart which it wouldn’t before!
