I am looking at upgrading my cell phone to a smart phone and getting rid of my ‘ole trusty dusty iPaq. I have searched here and Microsoft’s sites to try and find an answer to these questions.
When synchronizing Outlook 2007 with Windows Mobile 6, will my contact sub folders sync as well as the main contact folder?
Will my secondary calendar show up as well as the primary calendar?
I am not so concerned about the secondary calendars, but the sub contact folders would be a real plus.

AskWoody LoungerSeptember 25, 2008 at 5:11 am #1126985I don’t have sub contact folders nor calendars like that, but I just got a smartphone with 6.1on it and everything synched just like I requested.
However, I’m still trying to figure out how to NOT synch my private Outlook contacts to the phone. I’m sure I’m just missing some little thing.
So far I am very impressed. Had a Palm Tungsten and the Windows Mobile seems much better and easier.

AskWoody LoungerOctober 18, 2008 at 12:54 am #1129478I’m still playing with all of this, but I do know that I can sync only those categories that need this is done in the set up of Active Sync. Once the contacts are in, you can then filter them using that feature. Not what I am used to with my old Pocket PC but it works.
As for the folders and sub folders I was visiting Handango’s web site and came across Pocket Mirror Professional. Sounds as if it will do what I need, and I’m going to try it out. -

AskWoody LoungerNovember 21, 2008 at 10:18 am #1134170I am looking at a Windows Mobile 6.1 Professional device, synchronizing over the air to Exchange 2003, so I don’t know whether this is applicable to your situation:
If you open the Inbox on your mobile, and call up Menu > Manage Folders… do you get a screen that says “Select folders for synchronization”?
Then if you return to the Inbox and press the word “Inbox” in the top bar until it drops down, and select another folder you chose to sync, does it show the little ActiveSync icon?

Hmmm, you should be able to sync over the air to your Outlook Web Access server, unless that has been expressly blocked.
Here is an illustration of where I found the “Manage Folders” option, it was a level deeper than I said in my earlier post.
Added: I only see mail folders, I do not see an option to sync different contact and calendar folders.

AskWoody LoungerNovember 29, 2008 at 12:11 pm #1135178I sync my smartphone with Outllook 2007 on my laptop using ActiveSync. I get all the contacts synced, not just a specific selection. Perhaps another conduit would allow that, but I haven’t looked into that. It probably depends on whether you’re syncing to the Outlook running on a machine that connects directly to the internet or on one that uses a mail server, since my laptop doesn’t allow me to create new personal address books.

AskWoody LoungerNovember 30, 2008 at 3:36 am #1135293i’m looking into a couple of other programs that will allow me to do this but don’t have anything definitive yet. I may be just pounding sand down a rat hole though because of the security standards our company has come up with. If I do find something it would have to go on the company laptop and they are pretty strict. It took me over a year just to let them install my home printer.

AskWoody LoungerNovember 30, 2008 at 5:23 am #1135297Actually, if you’re using Outlook 2007, it doesn’t allow you to create new address books. Apparently that was intentionally removed from the produce by Microsoft, since Help addresses the issue directly by saying you can import old address books even though you can no longer create new ones. Helpful, no?
