I’m attempting to remove the background AND everything in the attached image except the walls and windows.  I have another program called Sweet Home 3D that I want to import the walls/windows into and then place furniture accordingly.

I have some experience with Paint, but have no idea how to remove a background color (make it transparent, and then remove the other items in the drawing)  It would be great if there was a way to remove by color, but still don’t know how to end up with a ‘transparent’ background.

Any help would be GREATLY appreciated.

    thank you in advance.

Didn’t see attached image. Not sure if this is what you want as it removes objects you select to be pasted in another photo. This is PhotoScissors by Inpaint an is free software.

To remove objects and leave the rest like what was removed was never there is performed very well by the Inpaint app, but that app costs $30. It works great at removing telephone lines and poles from scenic shots as well as people from a landscape (no people on my beach shots).

      Doug,

If you haven’t removed the MS Photos app from your Windows setup, its Edit function has a Background manipulation option that works pretty well. I’m on Win 10 22H2 with the Photos app at version  2024.11100.16009.0 (last updated 2024-10-23). It also can call on Microsoft Designer, which also can manipulate backgrounds, but for my simple test case, not as well as the Edit option. I suggest you give it a try.

You don’t appear to have attached the image you want to manipulate, so it’s impossible to tell how cleanly it would work in your use-case but the GIMP is free software (a kind of Photoshop-lite) with many background image removal options, including the ability to select and remove areas by colour
