If you own a Surface Pro 4 and you don’t block Windows Update, Microsoft probably reached into your machine last night and changed all sorts of system

AskWoody LoungerSeptember 2, 2017 at 7:11 am #131834I guess for me this sort of action should at least require notification. Wouldn’t mind someone coming over and fixing my car either. But not in the middle of the night and without asking me if its OK? After all Microsoft you may have designed the Surface but we the consumer buy them. This ideal of Microsoft knows best is getting on my last nerve.

GuestSeptember 2, 2017 at 11:40 am #131865The Surface Team and their management suffer from acute Ivory Tower Syndrome. Panos Panay could address this issue and the other support and design issues that have plagued the product line, but he is reluctant to accept users as being either valuable or relevant partners. When the user is considered no more than a nuisance, communications suffer. Pushing out undocumented fly by night patches is an example of ‘let them eat cake’.
Customer Service and Communications (CSC) is a standard business format – they go together. Yes, customers do have a need to know. Every contact your customers have with your business is an opportunity for you to improve your reputation with them and increase the likelihood of further sales. The most valued customer is a return customer.

AskWoody PlusSeptember 2, 2017 at 12:46 pm #131873This is like waking up one morning to go to work, and finding the car gone from the driveway with a sticky note from the manufacturer saying it was recalled overnight.ย You hope the contents of the trunk and glovebox are still there and it starts up normally when it gets back from the dealer.
Surface owners better check their trunks…

ManagerSeptember 2, 2017 at 9:32 pm #131932I’m seeing tweets saying that not every Surface Pro 4 user has received the updates. Anybody have a clue what might be going on? I’m at a loss.
Open conjecture in Windows Central that these went out to Insider machines only:
