    Hi there –

I need to insert a custom message in a “fake” screen shot of an iPhone. Building off Farhad Manjoo’s recent column, I’d like the text to say:

I can’t let you save this photo without running it by your parents. Would you like me to text Mom and Dad for permission?

I took a shot at this, but it’s awful:

    37824-Untitled

I can’t match the font or size, and the background image isn’t really of an iPhone.

    Can anyone help?

Thank you, thank you, thank you!

The font used by iOS 7 is, apparently, Helvetica Neue.

For the background image, try using a screenshot created by Reflector.

      Hope this helps…

Thanks, Rick. Unfortunately, I don’t have that font — I was hoping someone could here did, and could make the tweaks on their computer.

Also, I don’t know how to trigger an error message on my iPhone. I thought it might be easier to Google Image Search something, like this

Any chance someone here has these assets and skills?

      Thanks a ton!

      Hi guys –

Just want to see if anyone has any other suggestions? I made a little progress, but, as you can see, I’m still way off:

      Thanks so much.

You need someone with a Mac (which has Helvetica Neue as part of the OS) and Xcode (with Interface Builder) installed in order to use the iOS Simulator.

And something that looks like an iPhone rather than an Android device…

You need someone with a Mac (which has Helvetica Neue as part of the OS) and Xcode (with Interface Builder) installed in order to use the iOS Simulator to show an alert dialog, i.e. UIAlertView. Note that you cannot modify the UIAlertView’s look and feel nor its position (which always appears in the centre of the screen using the blue glass visual style).

You need someone with a Mac/MacBook (which has Helvetica Neue as part of the OS) and Xcode (with Interface Builder) installed in order to use the iOS Simulator to show an alert dialog, i.e. UIAlertView, as an alternative to copying fonts from a Mac to a PC.

Thanks, Rick — I greatly appreciate your continued advice and patience.

Unfortunately, of my three computers, all are PCs. So I guess I’m stuck until I find a friend who’s a Mac person.

      Thanks again.
