For easy access to Gmail, it’s also possible to create any website – including Gmail – as a web app. This will give it its own dedicated Edge window that cannot be overtaken by other links, and can be pinned to the start menu and taskbar like any other app.

Within Edge, go to the hamburger menu … and select Apps, then ‘Install this site as an app’.

Other Chromium browsers have similar functionality.

Re: Needs Gmail, but Chrome won’t run

Could it be that Chrome is opening in a window off screen? Windows key plus arrows could determine this.

How can Chrome be fixed/completely reset if the browser won’t even open?

I think in order to clear the cache, youll need to delete Chrome folder in:

        %USERPROFILE%\AppData\Local\Google

(Press WIN+R and paste the line above, press ENTER and you should see Chrome folder inside).

There is a portable version of Chrome at portableapps.com. Install it on another computer (for good luck) then copy it to the problematic machine.

Umm, if you install it then it’s not really portable, is it? Usually, portable means you run a .exe file from your Downloads folder or from a shortcut you sent to the Desktop, no?

Install = create a folder (on your desktop if you like, or anywhere convenient), extract the protable installer into the created folder, execute the .exe program file in the created folder.

This does not install the program in the same sense as non-portable programs. The portable program runs from the created folder and all the working files are in the created folder too.
