I’m a long time follower and fan. My wife and I used to spend a few months each winter just outside Chalong Bay–at a place called The Best Mansion–and frequented The Flintstone Bakery before your wife acquired it.
I know it’s a big move to make, and wish you all the best on your new journey.

GuestJanuary 16, 2014 at 9:48 pm #53515I hope your trip goes as smoothly as possible. Welcome to the Volunteer State: may you and your family be very happy here. I’ve been in Middle Tennessee for almost 20 years now. It is a great place to live and raise a family. Thanks for all the work you do to keep your readers safe and in-the-know. We’ll all still be here when you get settled in.

GuestJanuary 17, 2014 at 5:26 am #53516Hello Woody!
I am letting you know that Apple has been deleting Every post i make in their discussions on Mavericks not supporting PCIe Sonett or eSATA PCi express cards for eSATA. I read your article. I contact acted Apple and they will and can’t help. You should do a followup on Apple how they delete users posts in help forums that ask anything about it. I am really upset over it. Been a Mac fan for years, but after all my external data wrecked, raids wrecked from G-Tech, Promise, Lacie, now DAT Optic i am corners. I rely on my raids for film and music business. Apple’s failure to address problem or acknowledge it is a replay of the Mac overheating issue years back. This is really BIG i mean blocking users from posting a bug or warning others not to update until Apple fixes problem? Apple replied to one post taken down with some high grade employee ranting to me about “You expect apple to test every third party vendors raid cards? Thats the raid card or HD manufactures problems” “I have deleted your posts and blocked you from posting as per our discussion rights at apple” “If you want a fix complain to the companies” “Apple does NOT support any eSATA and will not in the future”
Thats a quote from apple!! Got to love them! Wish Steve was around. Tim Cook is a clown, needs big red shoes and a nose. in the customer world people are calling him “Sculley” like the other CEO that ruined apple.
Kind Regards,

GuestJanuary 17, 2014 at 6:06 am #53521I remember DEFCON 1 maybe a couple of years ago, when there were a lot of Widnows patching disasters going on. And sometime within I think the past year, a DEFCON 5, indicating at the time things were about as safe and stable as they get. So these conditions do occur. Rarely, but I’ve seen them happen.
Speaking of a DEFCON 1, I lost my DSL service for a couple of hours this afternoon (Chicago time). It’s AT&T DSL. They’re back up now. This too is very rare, but it happens.
What’s the T-Shirt logo from awhile back say? I think it’s “Tech Happens” This is by no means restricted to one technology or one carrier or one OS vendor. It’s good for me to know that with Woody, Windows Secrets, Susan Bradley and others, I can get updates on what’s working and what’s not at any given time.
That is, unless AT&T is down again ๐ !

AskWoody PlusJanuary 21, 2014 at 12:36 am #53527Welcome back to the US of A, Woody! Just to make sure you stay in the loop… Is This considered important? http://www.theverge.com/2014/1/20/5326844/hp-brings-back-windows-7-by-popular-demand
Bought a refurbished Windows 10 64-bit, currently updated to 22H2. Have broke the AC adapter cord going to the 8.1 machine, but before that, coaxed it into charging. Need to buy new adapter if wish to continue using it.

GuestJanuary 23, 2014 at 1:51 am #53528I’m very surprised. It seems like you just moved to a new home in Kathu and I thought your wife had started a new business there as well. Anyway best of luck to you and your family. I can understand you wanting your son raised in the states or at least partialy raised there. Got have infuences of more than just Thai culture and education. Are you going to leave CRISP running?

ManagerJanuary 25, 2014 at 8:19 pm #53534Thanks, everybody. Just a quick update.
We’re still looking for a house, so I’ve been working from a hotel room. Blech. It snowed last night – my son had never seen snow. We’re sorting through myriad options and hassles; moving halfway around the world does have some, er, challenges.
Will keep you posted….
