I installed Microsoft Office 2010 Professional last night. Overall it was smooth and the install picked up the 2007 settings. The only problem so far is that Outlook comes up with an error message on the Hotmail MAPI accounts. It does not seem to stop them receiving or sending mail but the Hotmail (Livemail) accounts that use Outlook Connector are coming up with an error that I cant find a solution for. The POP3 accounts are OK.
The error is :
Task ‘my.account@hotmail.com’ reported error (0x80004005) : ‘There is an error synchronizing your mail account. Please verify your account is configured correctly by first accessing your mail on the web. Error: 4350. ‘
I have Googled for solutions but nothing available that fits the problem. I have checked the Microsoft Knowledge Base but MS dont seem to have caught up to the fact of Office 2010 yet. I have three accounts, all Hotmail using Outlook Connector, that are showing this error. Outlook Connector has been a complete pain on Office 2007 and seems to cause occasional crashes and it looks like it is no different on Office 2010.
I would use POP3 to get to the Hotmail accounts but Outlook wont let me do that. If someone could tell me how to do that I would be happy with that as a solution. One thing I dont want is to access Hotmail via webmail. I can do that but it’s too slow and the UI is filled with advertising and junk. They should take a lesson from Gmail on that.
