    I am running Win7 with Outlook 2010.
I have a number of rules to move emails when they arrive into specific email folders.
For some of the rules, the emails are only copied into the target folder and remain in the original folder.
Also, this happens with emails that are affected by another rule.
So, an email comes in to the InBox from one of my email accounts (I have several). The email is moved into a folder for that email address.
Then, there is a rule that if the email is from a specific sender, it should go into the folder for that sender, not the email folder.
    Example:
Email received under address xx@xx.com, this is moved into the XX email folder.
The email is from a sender @yy.com. This needs to be moved into the YY folder.

Any ideas on how to correct this?
    Thanks,
    Jeff

Change the order of the rules to have the most specific being executed first and then include an action on that rule to stop processing any further rules.

I will see about changing the order. I can’t have it stop processing further rules, because then the rest of the rules won;t run and they aren’t affected by this. I have about 15 different rules for different things.

It will stop processing more rules, just for those messages. Once moved to the proper folder, do you want more rules to be applied to such messages?

Well, I may not be understanding how this wold process. If I stop processing more rules, does it continue to process other rules? What about another email that falls under one of these two rules at issue?
So, yes, first the emails are sorted based on the email account they are sent to, then there is another action if an additional condition applies, such as in this case where based on the sender, the emails needs to be moved again into a third folder.
Also, note that the email is acted on by the last rule pertaining to the sender, but it does a copy, not a move. Therefore, i wind up with the same email in both the folder for the email account and in the folder for the sender.

Not if that rule applies, but if that rule applies you don’t want it to.

What about another email that falls under one of these two rules at issue?

Rules work on one email at a time.

So, yes, first the emails are sorted based on the email account they are sent to, then there is another action if an additional condition applies, such as in this case where based on the sender, the emails needs to be moved again into a third folder.

Move again from second folder to third folder is not possible.

Also, note that the email is acted on by the last rule pertaining to the sender, but it does a copy, not a move.

Move again from first folder is what appears to do a copy.

Therefore, i wind up with the same email in both the folder for the email account and in the folder for the sender.

So switch the rule order and stop after the specific sender move if applicable. If not applicable it will continue with the general move rule.

Try what ruirib suggested in his first reply.
