Lately, I have found a new problem with Outlook 2010.  Certain messages, and I cannot yet discern any pattern, do not display in the Reading Pane.  It affects both text messages and those with HTML content.  The latter may be viewed by clicking on the option to view the message in a browser, but the browser is IE11 (this is Outlook 2010!)

The only solution that I have found is to move the message out of the account Inbox to a storage folder.  There, the message, text or HTML, displays just fine.

Does anyone know what’s happening?  Could I re-install Office 2010, with the years of updates that would involve?

      Two suggestions before repair/re-install:

      1) Try starting Outlook in “safe mode” (without any add-ins) by pressing Ctrl as you click the icon. (Some add-ins such as ShareFile have previously caused similar issues.)

      2) Try re-setting the view for your Inbox by using View, Current view, Reset view.

b – thanks for your reply.  I’ve tried your “reset” suggestion, and will continue as normal.

The trouble is that I may just not notice that the View problems that I described have disappeared, but I shall try to remember to post back here with my experiences.

      Again, thanks.

Update – thanks “b” for your suggestions.  I tried both of your suggestions, but the occurrence of this problem/annoyance was so random that I couldn’t be sure whether I had solved it or not.

Now I have done a repair on Outlook 2010, and . . . fingers crossed.  We’ll see what happens.
