I’m thinking that microsoft may have finally shut down the server that was supporting my outlook.com account (free) to my outlook 2007 client on win7/32. Last week, the server became unresponsive for days and was unable to retrieve new messages or send as a result. I tried resetting it, but still wasn’t able to re-establish the connection. I have two other win10 21R2 machines with outlook 2016 that had no problems accessing the same outlook.com account. Another legacy win7 machine with outlook 2010 also had imap timeouts when trying to access the outlook.com account via imap, but was able to send messages and receive most messages. (subscribed folders were the issue there).

If it works with 2016 then the server has not been shut down.
It may be a restriction on 2007 because it uses older, less secure protocols.

Compare the account settings in 2007/16 to confirm.

      cheers, Paul

      I had an outlook account

“myemailaddress”[@]outlook.com. When I put “myemailaddress” in, I am sent to “Assumption” (part if my email address) addresses not my e-mail account.
