When I’m working in IE7 or other programs, I sometimes have trouble opening Outlook.
If I restart the computer, than I can open Outlook.
What do I need to do to fix the problem?

Do you mean starting Outlook from its desktop or QuickLaunch icon? It’s difficult to guess why that might not work, but low memory might be one possible culprit. Before I upgraded to 2GB of memory, I had lots more problems with Outlook seeing to stall when opening (Outlook.exe would appear in the Task Manager’s Processes tab but the UI never opened).

        Thank you for your reply.
Outlook doesn’t open from either the desktop icon or the quicklink.and there is nothing to start Outlook in Start > Programs.
I do have about 864 mg of RAM after allowing for video.
I guess I’ll have to add more RAM but I wonder why there is nothing for Outlook in Start > Programs

I Gb total RAM is very light for Office 2007, and more so if your OS is Vista.

Is Outlook under Start > Programs > Microsoft Office?

Thank you for taking the time to reply to my post.
Yes. Office is in Start|Programs|Microsoft Office listing
            Fortunately, I use WinXP
I noticed that Word is nowhere in my Program listing. Maybe that’s why I have problems opening Word.

I suspect your problems are more related to limited memory. You might ask about Office 2007 memory requirements in the “General MS Office Suite” Forum, and if you do, provide information about your memory, antivirus software and other system tray programs, and your CPU model and speed.

It doesn’t matter that your menus do or don’t show loaded programs. What matters is that you have the executable properly installed. You might want to run a “detect and repair” on all your Office program suite.

Back to Outlook: how big is your PST file, and do you have any PDA or “smartphone” synching software routinely loaded?
