Within the last few days, images in outlook live stopped automatically opening in the MS emails in all browsers for me. No impact to gmail. Any ideas ? silence mostly from MS.

Same situation using classic outlook.

It’s certainly a very widespread issue with Outlook.COM over the last week, and the only workaround is Settings, Conversation view, Newest on top (or Settings, View all Outlook settings, Mail, Layout, Message organization, Show email grouped by conversation).

I don’t understand why this should solve it, but it seems to work for everyone (including me just now).

I don’t have any issue with images in Outlook 365, where such a problem seems to be much rarer.

Thanks for the tip on the work around on this. It has bugged my wife and myself for about 2 weeks. FINALLY got it fixed.

As a workaround I downloaded from the Microsoft Store the Mail and Calendar App for PC. It does not have this problem, and you can use to access your emails and calendar.

The issue of images not being displayed in messages at Outlook.COM should now be fixed for most users (even without the “Conversation view” workaround):
