Outlook new message format changed

The other day the format of the To:, From:, Subject, etc. changed.  The Send button also changed to a paper airplane…  formerly it was an envelope.  This is Office 2019 Home and Business.  I know Office 2016 Home and Business did not change and neither did Office 2019 Standard.  I have a screenshot of the before and after here…

Yes, I noticed the change a few weeks ago in the Outlook program of my MS Office Home and Business 2019 C2R, although there’s nothing specifically mentioned in the Current Channel release notes <here>.  I personally don’t like this change – on more than one occasion I’ve accidentally typed the Subject of a new email in the box where you should be adding Cc: email addresses (which threw an error when I tried to send the email), but I guess I’ll eventually get used to the new interface.

I went to File | Office Account today and also noticed that I’m still on MS Office Home and Business 2019 C2R Version 2211 / Build 15831.20208 that was released back on 06-Dec-2022, so I guess I’ll have to try a manual update check to see if that gets my automatic Click-to-Run updates restarted again.

I also experienced this with my Outlook 2019. In addition to format changes of From: To:, etc. the size of these buttons also increased.
While I do not have a fix to revert these to the old format, you can shrink the size of these buttons by using the Use Tighter Spacing option.
Open Outlook
Select the View tab
Click the Use Tighter Spacing icon.
This will cause tighter spacing of emails listed in the Inbox, but when you open a New email it will make the From:, To:, etc. buttons decrease in size. You may find that this is easier to use.  If you don’t like it, click the Use Tighter Spacing and it will toggle the Use Tighter Spacing off.
