as my previous post got invisible.

I have spent extensive time on this matter and currently calling Apple Support as the problem is now entirely reproducible on several devices with different Apple IDs.
The support reference, in case you need to call them either is 101103211515.

The scenario to I can reproduce the problem is:

      Windows 10 1909
      Windows 10 2004

      Microsoft (Office) 365 – de-de, monthly channel 2004
      Microsoft (Office) 365 – de-de, monthly channel 2005

      What does work:
Outlook integration has been successfully setup on Windows 10 1909 and MSO 2004
Upgrading to Windows 10 2004 and MSO 2004 will retain the functionality.

iCloud sync may not work, clicking on systray iCloud asks for a new authentication. After authentication everything is fine.

      What does not work
as soon you logoff in iCloud Windows 10 app from store and remove all configuration from PC uninstall and / or repair (including the above mentioned workaround) iCloud app and try to setup the integration new the issue will appear as mentioned here.

after 2 hours of holding line and speaking with a support agent, Apple support declined responsiblity for the error in iCloud app and points to Windows or Office support.

as next step we will try to repro this in a clean 1909 VM.

      Hi there,
after many hours I would a final solution for this problem
Investigations showed that the problem was never reproducible in a 2004 / 1909 VM, no matter how hard I tried with disabling / enabling / reinstalling iCloud and the integration. Also tried M365 2004 and 2005 as above. Everything worked like a charm.

So we went back to the one of many computers that troubled us.

Purging Appdata and localappdata again, removing orphaned iCloud account and ost file aswell as the msmapi file in the localappdata\microsoft\outlook nothing helped.

      Solution:
create a new Outlook profile in control panel > “E-Mail (Outlook 2016)” (you still won’t find this MSMAPI cpl in search).

with the new profile everything returned back, working.

      Conclusion:
some computers prior or after upgrade may be affected that iCloud integration cannot be setup. Something, I won’t dig further in registry / msmapi settings has gone wrong.

It is not a problem of Windows 10 2004, thankfully.

As a matter of interest, did you get your iCloud from the Microsoft store, or as a download from Apple?  I have found this can make a difference, had to rip iCloud out, root-and-branch, including the orphaned iCloud account, when I tried using the Microsoft store version.  For just now, I would always use the Apple downloaded version.

My experience is likewise. Always download iTunes from Apple.

    • #2269543

For me it quite the opposite, only use the store versions for the matter of easier maintenance and you can uninstall a lot of uneeded stuff from Apple and Windows Media Player.
So far I don’t regret this for years now.
What happened here is quite the exception.

Whatever your preference. Better don’t mix them. Either both as classic apps or both from Store.

      Ditto.

The problem is independent whether users use the store app or not. They are just wrapped and otherwise same apps with some benefits over their legacy stuff.

When I open icloud for windows and check the mail, contacts, calendar and task box, a dialogue come up indicating that icloud for windows did not properly install.  Repair does not work.  Uninstall and reinstall does not work.  Removing everything apple from the PC and reinstalling does not work.  Microsoft support points to Apple.  Apple Support points to Microsoft. Only thing I can see from my portable (which works fine post upgrade) is that the portable has version 7.19 of icloud for windows whereas my PC has 11.2. I have installed icloud from microsoft and cannot add another version.

        I’ve solved the b*****t bingo.

        See above

Logoff in icloud, remove everything if asked

Uninstall all Apple products (*deauthorize iTunes before uninstall) via settings >§apps including all legacy stuff like bonjour, apple support (last), Apple Updater

Install the latest iCloud (iTunes* if needed) from the Store

Create a new outlook profile in control panel > email.

Add all email accounts, pst files if applies . Mind new profile looses settings like signatures etc. Transfer them manually.

Setup iCloud for the new Outlook profile

alQamar – you would see that opinions are sharply polarised on whether to take the MS Store versions or the versions direct from Apple.

Thanks for the detailed description of what you did with the version that you downloaded from the Store to make it work.  I may need this one day if Apple deliver iCloud only via the Store.  It’s becoming harder to find the version direct from Apple.

As said it doesn’t matter. The solution and problem is the same no matter if you use the legacy msi or the store version.

    • #2273412

I confirm much of what is written above.  This is how I fixed the problem:

      Sign out of icloud

uninstall icloud for windows and incloud outlook (if there).  Don’t need to uninstall any other apple products on PC

create a new profile on outlook (unfortunately this appears to be required) and reinstall signatures and policies (archives)

This is key.  Do not use microsoft for windows app.  Instead search for from the web and install icloud.exe  Make sure outlook is closed but on the new profile.

everything should lad in once you input your Apple ID and password.

Glad it helped. I am 100% sure the sentiments against the store app aren’t founded. I saw people joining that used the legacy app and still had this problem.

Yes it’s not needed to uninstall all Apple legacy apps as I’ve said just

Infact just icloud and icloud for Outlook.

if you want a clean and Windows Media Player free secure system, store based apps are mandatory. And again it’s not an upgrade issue. I’ve tested that.

I will also happen on 1909 if one is to change icloud app legacy or not, and the outlook sync. It simply breaks.

    • #2273421

I was only able to correct the problem by installing icloud.exe (Which installed 7.16.0.15) versus the icloud for windows version (11.2) at the Microsoft store.  Perhaps others share your experience.  Changing the profile alone and reinstalling at the Microsoft store did not work for me on this PC.

Sad to hear… I really hope one can catch the root cause MS and Apple support pinpoint each other. I gave up.

    • #2360851

I had the same problem and i solved it by deinstall icloud for windows completely and then downloaded the icloud version for windows 7/8. I did NOT use the MS Store. After installation, everything works fine. Confusing, but it works….
