Pause updates issue

PK Cano and S.B. have a helpful page on using Wumgr, which I’m trying now, especially because I have a huge issue with Win 11 23H2 new installation: Win updates hardly works, often giving “Retry later” when it sees an update.

Despite my selecting “Get Immediately”, right below that I see “Pause: 1 week”, which I can’t remove. I don’t want any pause.

PK says: “If you have set Pause in Windows Update, it will not scan for updates because Pause stops the Windows Update Service. WUMgr is the program most recommended for WU control”

Check if you have “Pause” set in Settings\Update & Security\Wundows Update.

Does the Windows Update page give you the option to “Resume Updates”? If not, then updates are not paused. I can see the “Pause For One Week” on my update page too, but seeing it is not the same as having the selection enabled. It’s just giving you the option to do so if you choose

I have Windows update. I’ll wait a couple of days and report what Wumgr / Search is showing and also stop using “StopUpdatesNow”.

Then PK and you experts can diagnose.

Steve, this is useful to know, indicating that I was likely not pausing updates, though having an issue with doing them.
