• Powershell version?

If I have 7.5.1 and the Windows Powershell installed how do I tell which is running?  Windows Powershell used to be blue background but I find a black background with version 5.1 now.

    Sorry I’m feeble-minded, ’cause I think I’ve been here before, but…

How do I set 7.35.1 as the default and the g0-to for PShell scripts?

Run powershell and the windows will display the version running.

To set default (providing you have multiple powershell versions installed), try :

      Right-click a .ps1 file > Open with > Choose another app > select C:\progran files\powershell: PowerShell 7.x.x (pwsh.exe) and check “Always use this app”

In the console, just enter $PSVersionTable and it will display the version/build of PowerShell that is currently in use.

For example, here’s Windows PowerShell 5.1:

      powershell_version

      Hope this helps…

On my system if I use Win+R and type pwsh I get version 7.5.1. If I type powershell I get version 5.1. Additionally, the window that opens with 5.1 is title “Windows Powersell” where the window that opens with 7.5.1 is titled “Powershell 7 (x64)”.
