Tried a term search and it didn’t look like it was going to narrow much after 3-4 pages ‘standard user block updates’.

I have all my grand kids Win10 Pro on non-admin accounts on their PCs and using PcKano’s latest recommended Update settings ( No pause).

I’m not sure if they are going to see the Update prompts on the taskbar or on the Notifications Bubble.

Is there a GrpPolicy setting to lock them completely out of notifications and activation?

You can block most notifications in “focus assistant”. I do this for all our corporate users, so they are not distracted by any popups on the system tray – set “focus assistant” to “alarms only”. I think it hides all (including WU), but I am not sure for 100%.
I dont think there is special way to hide WU via group policy editor. Source

In gpedit, navigate to Computer Configuration > Administrative Templates > Windows Components > Windows Update > ‘Allow non-administrators to receive update notifications’ and disable the policy. This should stop notifications for WU for standard users altogether, though I have not tested it myself as my everyday account is a standard account.

Not configured or enabled both allow users on standard accounts to see and download/install any and all updates; mine is set as Not configured and I’m notified and able to install any and all updates on my standard main account.

      Hope this helps. 🙂

That option is not supported on Windows 10.

      Yes, it does.

That stops the notifications, but does it prevent installation of updates by non-Admins?

              Strange but true (I think):

We have listened to your feedback and learned a lot about which experiences work and which don’t. We have also worked to evolve and simplify the controls needed to support these improved experiences, and identify which older policies have become irrelevant or replaced with a better option. As a result, the Windows update policy set contains policies that no longer have any impact; that don’t work as described on devices running Windows 10, version 20H2 or later; or that work but not as well as the policies that were added to accomplish a similar experience in a much better way.

To reduce that complexity, with Windows 11 we created a sub-folder under “Windows Update” to specify “Legacy Policies.” While these sub-folders are only available in the Windows 11 ADMX templates, the same recommendations can be made for Windows 10, version 20H2 and above. Therefore, we recommend that you review your policy settings and leverage only the recommended policy set.
