“print in reverse order” – 2007

Hi:

In earlier versions of Word, I reversed the order of pages when printing, to avoid the necessity of shuffing the pages, because the paper comes out of my printer ‘face up’.

Having recently installed Office 2007 (which incidentally seems to have removed earlier copies of Office, although I’m certain I checked ‘keep earlier versions’) I can’t find the option to print pages in reverse order anywhere in the Print Options dialog.

Any help would be much appreciated.

It looks like they’ve taken that option away – in fact (comparing with a Print dialog in Word 2002), it looks like they’ve reduced the number of Print options from 12 to 6!

In addition, the interface for accessing Print Options from the Print dialog has changed, and not apparently for the better: In earlier versions if you click on the Options button in the Print dialog, you get a second Print dialog, this one containing only the contents of what you would see on the ‘Print’ tab if you went to Tools > Options.

In Word 2007, clicking on Options in the Print dialog takes you to the full Word Options dialog (the same one you’d access via the Office button) – in this case you can now access all Word options from here, which doesn’t seem like a good idea at all – seems like it made much more sense to only be able to access Print options, from the Print dialog!

It says here that the option is still there, but isn’t found where you would expect it. (Scroll down to post #2 there.)

You can select print in reverse order with Office 2007.
Go to “Office button”
Select “Word option”
Select “Advanced”
Scroll down to “Print”
From there select “Print pages in reverse order”

Can I add my thanks too – somewhat belatedly, as I was unaware of replies; my email notifications do not appear to be working.

I actually returned to this thread to say I had found an option in my Printer Settings (see att’d s/shot) but the solution already posted by ababenchrist seems preferable.

This is likely not the answer you are looking for, but I prefer ALL my printer output to be in reverse order, therefore have set that option as default in printer preferences. If you decide to do this, don’t also set reverse order in Word or else they cancel each other and it comes out in normal order.
