I seem to remember a post some time ago where someone mentioned a utility you could use to print out the structure of your tables. Is anyone familiar with a tool that will do this? Any suggestions will be greatly appreciated.

AskWoody_MVPNovember 20, 2002 at 3:43 am #632991Access 97 has a basic documentation capability, but it doesn’t print out a graphical representation of your table structure. In Access 2000, you can effectively print out the ER diagram, but to really get the soup to nuts view, you need something like the FMS Analyzer product, which isn’t cheap.

AskWoody LoungerNovember 20, 2002 at 6:30 am #633017Try Tools–>Analyze–>Documenter. That will allow you to print out information about the fields, indexes, etc., on your tables. If you have money to burn, http://www.fmsinc.com[/url%5D has several tools that print out more information than you ever wanted to know about your tables, and if you want a graphical representation, Microsoft Visio can reverse engineer a database schema and create a diagram of your tables and relationships. However, none of the apps like Visio or the much less expensive DeZign for Databases, are easy to use for this purpose and they don’t use the Access datatypes in their diagrams. If you just want to print the relationships window, there was an add-in you could download for A97 that created a report resembling the relationships layout, but it didn’t work very well.

AskWoody LoungerDecember 4, 2002 at 12:13 pm #636251RBW,
for what it still is worth… Tony d’Ambra’s FreeAccess site offers a free utility which draws out the table structure ‘designed’ in the relationships window to a printable & more-a-less editable report. http://www.aadconsulting.cjb.net/vizrel.html
He has a Documenter alternative too (…/ezydoc.html), which just documents the important information on your objects – often preferable to what Access provides.

Hi Rick
Go the http://www.RogersAccessLibrary.com[/url%5D
Look in other develpoers code tab.
I can’t remember which one, but one of them has Oracalize_Table_Fields.mdb that has some interesting code and routine to print simple data structure to a text file.
