I have been having a problem with my Quicken program in that my Help file is apparently corrupted. The Intuit tech support people have been trying to send me an attachment (1.53 MB) that may enable me to correct my problem.

While I get the e-mails I don’t get the attachments. I have three e-mail accounts; i.e. Aim, Road Runner and Windows Live. I have checked all my e-mail settings and find nothing to indicate that attachments are being blocked.

    Does anyone have any suggestions?

The attachment is probably an executable, and many email systems block all executable attachments (gmail does for example).

Can they they put the file on a webserver somewhere, then send you a link. That is what I do when I want to send an executable to someone.

      Thanks, John
I’ll suggest that to the Intuit tech people, and if it solves the problem, I’ll thank you again!

I finally got the file as a zipped file sent the normal way. I don’t know why it it didn’t arrive sooner. However, when I tried to replace my file with the new one, I got the following message:

“Windows found that this file is potentially harmful. To help protect your computer, Windows has blocked access to this file. Name: quicken.chm”

Is there any way to by-pass this security block? (Perhaps this should be posted in another part of the Lounge?)

Found this workaround for Windows Live that will prevent all file extension checking.

If I didn’t have the file, I’d certainly use this technique until the file came through. Now that I have the file, I have a different problem as noted above.

I have had responses to this thread I started but no e-mail notifications. I have checked (in my general settings) the default notification mode, i.e. Instantly, using e-mail. Any clues as to why I don’t get notified by e-mail?

The responses have been helpful as to my original post. That issue has been more or less resolved, but I am hoping for some response to the current problem noted in post #4.

Since my last post, I decided to reinstall Win 7 because I was having other problems such as not starting, freezing, etc. The reinstall temporarilly solved the Quicken problem when that program was reinstalled. Unfortunately, a host of other problems developed as I have noted in the Win 7 area of the Lounge.
