I created a bootable usb drive using the Windows 10 media tool. I booted the z440 using the flash drive.
I chose the option to erase the C drive and install a fresh operating system.
The Windows 10 upgrade process could not find a driver so it could not find the C drive.
The Windows 10 process prompted me for a driver. I found a driver.
The Windows 10 process then said it could not continue because the C drive partition was an MBR and Windows 10 requires a GBT. I decided to delete the C drive partition. Then I could click on New and create a new partition. Unfortunately the Windows 10 upgrade process cannot change the partition type.
So, what to do now?
– I could restore Windows 7 pro, then format the C drive using Windows 7 pro to the correct partition type. Then, of course, Windows 7 pro would not be able to reboot because the operating system would be gone.
– I could buy another drive, format it to the correct partition type and then remove the current C drive and install the new one in its place. The C drive would be completely empty and I don’t know whether the Windows 10 update process would accept this . I don’t really want to spend the money to buy another drive .
How would you solve this problem?
