I have installed win 7 full version 3 times and a friend of mine had win 7 installed on a new laptop. of these installs the laptop and one of my systems appeared to work for the first few boots and then services started not running. The system said that the dll could not be found to start the service. Finally the system started reporting that “you may have been the victim of software piracy”. After a total reinstall everything worked fine. It seems as if the win 7 installer is somewhat unstable and does not always do a complete install. My recommendation is to test the s#!t out of the system with several reboots to force this error to show its ugly head.

PS. All of these were full installs on a clean formatted drive.

    Question:
    1. Have any of you experienced this on any of your installs?
    2. If so have you found what is going wrong?

      ….Question:
      1. Have any of you experienced this on any of your installs?….

      Have reinstalled several times problem-free.

It would help if you could tell us which dll was reported as missing. Have you tried seeing whether you can source the dll from elsewhere – so you could supply it for the install.

I did not try to add the dll in question as in the two cases I sited the failed service was different and I know in one case the dll was present but the system could not find it. I did not have direct access to the laptop but it showed the same ultimate error of not being able to go to the update site. Over time more and more services failed to be able to start. Oh and all installs were 64bit versions. So maybe this does not happen on 32bit versions, I don’t know.

“64-bit” has been added to the title of this thread – for clarity.

Maybe the .dll in question needs to be registered.

Did you download the image or purchase it? I have run accross installs where the download had failed on a file or two. You could check to see if the hash values of the download match tose on the MS site.

Failing that try downloading another image, burn at a slow speed and try it.

      Good luck
