I followed Fred Langa’s article about a clean install of Windows 10 64bit, when it had finished I rebooted and could find no trace of my second internal HDD with all my software so that meant I could not install True Image to save a fresh Windows 10 install for a rainy day, neither could I find a way to revert to my monitor’s native resolution 2560 x 1440. I restored a previous image and started again, this time using ‘reset’ with nothing else saved, same result. Am I missing a crucial choice somewhere.

I did a clean install as well. I had to go online and find drivers for my hardware (including my monitor). Once I did that and let Windows update it’self a few times (over 2-3 days), everything worked fine and it’s still running well 6 weeks later. What I found doesn’t work is loading a bunch of applications and other stuff before you complete the patching and driver updates. Patience seems to be the key.

Thank you both for your replies. No errors during install. I could put up with the wrong resolution but I cannot do anything without the contents of my internal Drive D: being available. As I have restored a previous image I cannot remember the exact nomenclature but my Drive D: is now my rescue drive with no contents. If I do a restore with True Image the rescue DVD picks up the D: drive, the one with my images on. Strangely, if I invoke Computer Management/Disc Management there is my D: drive with all the my content but it won’t show up in File Explorer, so I am stymied.

Can you see a disk at all in Windows Explorer?
Can you see it from a Command Prompt? “dir d:”

      cheers, Paul

The disc is not visible in File Explorer. As I have now restored a previous image I cannot try “dir d:”.

Try assigning a different drive letter using Disk Management.
