I am having trouble with my wife’s outlook mail navigation pane. Two issues, main one first, second one after.
She has an hp with Win 7 with office 2010. Her email is yahoo.com but I have it set up in Outlook. I do not use Exchange.
Because she has an I-phone and I-Pad and wanted the emails to sync, I switched it to IMAP. Well, actually it was more a matter of having the emails she deletes; disappear from all three devices, not having to do it three times. This was due to the Apple people telling us, in order to do that, we needed to use IMAP rather than POP3.
I tried moving the IMAP one up, but it would not displace the POP3 one. After I added the IMAP account, I copied her emails, or the ones she still wanted into it. Although, the IMAP account is the default one; the POP3 is listed above it in the mail navigation pane. And the ‘sent’ folder will not move to IMAP one. In spite of the IMAP being the default account, the POP3 one.
So I did. Because I did not want to lose all her emails, contacts etc. I did not delete the POP3 account in Outlook. . Anyway, the ‘Sent’ folder was only in the POP3 account. I tried to move it to the IMAP one, when I was moving emails etc. but the Sent folder would not move. Today, I added a new ‘sent’ folder to the IMAP one.
I also tried to get in the File/Account settings/account settings to change things. That was a while ago, so I don’t remember what all I did. Today, since she has all her emails, I went into the File/Account settings/account settings, in order to delete the POP3 account. I did delete it so it is no longer in the File/Account settings/account settings.
However, it is still in the navigation Pane. She gets annoyed by the fact that they share same name, so I ran across directions for changing name of accounts, but this was after I had remove it, so I can’t change to name.
I have searched for ways to change/ adjust things in the mail navigation pane. I have tried to reset navigationpane [at Start-> Run; “C:Program FilesOffice 11Outlook.exe” /resetnavpane] but it would not open.
I tied looking into the navigation pane setting, but they were in C:/Documents and Settings which I could not get to open.
The second issue is, when I open the IMAP one, I get the following message.
“ failed to update header”
Details are
Account: heremail@yahoo.com(IMAP)
An IMAP command failed
Protocol: IMAP
Server: imap.mail.yahoo.com
Port: 993
Any idea with these?
Thanks.
