Problems with saving files as RTF format (2000)

There appears to be a a bug when saving files in FTF format , in that when l save a document as rft format and then paste it into Word the page setup is letter.
Yet my setting are all UK based , is there a work around this problem?
The documents are saved from an email.
see screenshot for how l am saving this document.
I have posted this into 2 categories as l not to sure which one it should go in.
