• Range Names (Excel 2000)

    Sorry about this one folks, but I may be losing it…for the life of me I can’t remember how to subtract one range name from another. As in the example I am attaching which I took 2 stabs at.

      Since your named ranges contain multiple cells:

      =SUM(SUM(Year1)-SUM(Year2))

        Thank you very much. I was also attempting an array, but that was not good either. I should have noted your explanation as I autofilled down, that it was looking at multiple cells, just didn’t think a range would do that. It is a “range” after all. Live and learn.

        Actually it is slightly simpler than that:

        =SUM(Year1)-SUM(Year2)
