I can’t tell you about the .net updates… maybe someone else will step up.

You need KB 976932, Service Pack 1. Quite a few updates depend on its presence.

Canadian Tech just posted his method of bringing a new install up to date at #188268. You could compare his method to where you are now… but be aware that he (however successfully) moves to Group W, rather than follow Group B Security updating to current status.

Also, pay attention to steps B4 through B7 of Ongoing List of Group B Monthly Updates For Win 7 and 8.1, as doing the wash, rinse, repeat of these will reveal servicing stack updates that only show up when all other updates are either installed or hidden. I’m not sure how it will go for a new install, but doing it the first time MrBrian brought it up meant going back every month and hiding the Monthly Rollup, and re-running windows update, for me… all the way back to when Monthly Rollups were first offered. I found three updates I hadn’t been there previously that way.

How nice to have a clean, fresh, install! Enjoy it!

Re KB 3205402, there was a revision in February 2017:

Revised bulletin to announce a detection logic change to Monthly Rollup Release KB3205403 and Monthly Rollup Release KB3205404. This is an informational change only. Customers who have already successfully updated their systems do not need to take any action.

The original update relates to Security Bulletin MS16-155. If KB 3205402 is showing as installed with a December 19, 2016 date (v2.0), there appears to be no security reason to install the update.

There appear to have been some problems with KB 3205402. @pkcano mentioned its supercedence in June 2017.

Re: SP1, I used wsusoffline with a security-only flag to avoid the old 48 hour 50% cpu hangup, and I did get SP1. I don’t know why I was left with this SP1 patch of 9MB.

I believe that is an update for SP1, not the whole thing. The entirety of SP1 is a CD full.

      The Windows 7 updates that I didn’t install are KB2952664, KB3021917, and KB971033.

@Anonymous: Since you have opted for Group B (presumably to avoid telemetry) you can avoid using MSRT as it sends a ‘heartbeat’ to microsoft.

Just download and install Winaero TweakerThen just go to the section Behavior and the Disable MSRT from installing tick the box and no more MSRT.

      ALTERNATIVELY:

Below is a querky way to get round not using the MSRT:

      1. Tick to install MSRT by itself BUT then DECLINE the terms and conditions for the April version.

Once this is done, check for updates and the March version will appear.

      2. Tick to install MSRT by itself BUT then DECLINE the terms and conditions for the March version.

(step and repeat the above until no more MSRT’s are left (which are automatically hidden anyway)

You will find that next month the MSRT will be available for May (same again for this)
