A client sent me a very long document full of manual endnotes. Using Find/Replace, I converted all the manual reference numbers to a specific style. But he has left a space before each number. Would someone be willing to explain to me how I can automate removing those spaces using Find/Replace? Thanks!

      Hello Clark.

Don’t know precise format of your endnote reference numbers, but maybe try something like this…

Open Find/Replace dialog box, click “More>>” button, then check “Use wildcards” option

      Find what:
      ( )([0-9]{1,4}. )

      Replace with:
      \2

Why? The first expression should find any _single space_ followed by _a 1-4 digit number followed by a period and a space_… the second expression should then replace the found two-part combination with only the second part (i.e., the 1-4 digit number followed by a period and a space) eliminating the unwanted leading space. Hope this helps.
