    AudioWear-Voice-CSR-Harmony

Shown is a screenshot of the machine’s Device Manager. As an experiment I tried using an aftermarket Bluetooth 5.0 dongle. Under Other devices is shown the drivers I want to weed out. I’ve already done a Registry “Search and Destroy” for all devices named via the CSR. There remain some AudioWear devices which need removal but the Registry Editor’s telling me those aren’t being removed because of an error.

I already know about the downsides of hacking the Registry but I’m also wondering who has a favorite Registry search and destroy tool. Thank you for your time and attention.

Why do you need to edit the registry?
Surely using the device manager would be suffice in removing the devices in question.
      Within Device Manager:
file menu bar at the top: select view then select show hidden devices
then right click the device you wish to remove and select uninstall.

Why edit the Registry? …because both removing and disabling those devices have already failed. By doing either removal or disablement they simply reappear in the Device Manager. And they were never Hidden. System Restore to the point before the bozo dongle’s software was added failed.

I’m also wondering who has a favorite Registry search and destroy tool.

Nir Sofer’s RegScanner lets you search and list entries instead having to use Registry Editor’s F3 (Find again) function.

Either click on found results to jump to the location in Registry Editor or export the results to a REG file which you can then amend to become an UNREG file to remove items in bulk.

      Hope this helps…

Thanks Rick. I tried it and it’s fast and accurate. I’ll use it!

Check the properties of the devices for the driver (right click > Properties > Driver).
      What / whose drivers?
Click Driver Details to show the driver file. What is it – post a screenshot?

      cheers, Paul
