• Replace with superscript (Word 2K, SR1)

Many docs we are now working on have P3I throughout; need to make the 3 superscript. Any way to replace entire word as P3(superscript)I? I know you can replace a character and make it superscript, but is there a way to do the entire word when its mixed? Thanks for any help.

      Hi Nancy:
I can think of a way to do this with 3 successive Find/Replace operations. I don’t know if you used P3I (latter is capital “eye”) as an example of the format or an exact one. Assuming that every letter-3-letter combination needs the number in superscript, do the following:
      1. Using Widlcards:
      Find: ([A-Z])(3)([A-Z])
      Replace: 1%%%2

This will replace your 3 with something not other wise found in the document.

      2. Do another Find/Replace
      Find: %%%
Replace: leave blank but go to Format/Font/Superscript
This will leave the %%% superscript.

      3. Do the last Find/Replace without wildcards. Just Find %%% & replace with a 3.

      Cheers,

Or do it with a little fiddle and one search and replace.

Set up one P3I so that the 3 is superscripted, copy it and then do a search for P3I and replace it with ^c

Thanks — this is so simple!

Instead of using Find and Replace, why not type the P3I with a superscripted “I”, then block and place all 3 characters in AutoCorrect as formatted text? From then on, everytime you type P3I, the “I” will be superscripted.
