I started using Google Chrome a short while and was impressed with how quickly it worked.  The next day things slowed down to a crawl.  Kept seeing “resolving host” in the lower left section of the browser display.  Queried online but never found anything that resolved the problem.  Decided to check out MS Edge and it was very responsive too and in a short time it too started dragging!  Again check for a fixed but nothing worked.  In addition when in this state when trying to start another user account (ctrl-alt-delete -> select new login) my machine went to never never land.  Just a grey screen and no response to keyboard or mouse even ctrl-alt-delete had no effect – had to power off the machine and start up again.

The only way I’ve found to get the browser happy again (for a while anyway) is to reboot the computer!  Not a good option but the only thing I have found to do.

Has anyone come across the problem and found a successful fix?  I’d really appreciate any response that will help me get this resolved.

    TIA, briko

When you boot the PC start Task Manager to see if you can identify what is using the system resources when the system slows.

What Joe is implying is the problem is machine, not browser.

When you open Task Manager (right click on taskbar) you can see how much CPU and memory your apps are using (you might need to click on “more details”). Clicking on the column headings will change the sort order.

      cheers, Paul
