It is my understanding that the right hand allignment is indicated by the ruler setting displayed along the top of the document. That setting is, in turn, controlled by the Page Setup, Margins settings. So, if the Left and Right hand margins are set to the default 1.25 inches, the document on 8 1/2 inch wide paper will display text stretching from 0 inches on the left to 6 inches on the right. My question is: Regardless of view?
In Print Layout view my documents are displayed alligned as described above. In Normal view, however, the right margin setting of the ruler is ignored and is set about one quarter of an inch from the right side of the physical window boundry. The width of all lines are reformatted dynamically as the size of the window changes. Is this right? It is happening for all existing and new documents. I even deleted the Normal template in case it was corrupt. I can’t understand having to ask such a question after 15 years of Word usage, but there it is.
Thank you,
