I have managed to create two rogue menu commands. Precluding their re-appearance will be the subject of another thread. Right now I need to know how to delete them. Please see the attached graphic, the two rogues are visible in the Add-Ins tab and have been circled in the graphic.

I am googled out. Any help will be most appreciated.

I have a template that creates or updates menu items, which Word 2007 diverts to the Add-ins tab. I always get duplicates and when I try to clear one I have to clear them all. Deeply frustrating. I just gave up on de-duplicating my template to Word 2007’s satisfaction. I might need to rebuild it from scratch.

Added: Are they in one of your add-ins or do they persist even after you start up without add-ins?

        Hi Jefferson
Thank you for the response; misery loves company.

        >> Are they in one of your add-ins or do they persist even after you start up without add-ins?
Your question cannot be answered as posed, but here is the situation as best ai can relate it.

        1. I have two add-ins “Launch”, and “Macros”. The actual filenames of these two add-ins are configured such that on launching Word, Launch is installed first, and Macros is installed last.
        2. The only purpose of the Launch add-in is to interrogate the timestamp of Macros and compare it with the Master Macros template which is held on the server, If there is a discrepancy in the timestamps, the Master Macros Template is copied into the Word Startup folder.
        3. The Macros add-in contains all of the working macros, quite a few.
        4. On installation of Macros, the first action is to build the Command bar with the two Pop-up buttons “GD Macros” and “GD Styles”
        5. All of the macros fired by these buttons on this command bar are contained within the code in the Macros add-in.
        6. I do not know the source/cause of the two General buttons shown in the graphic; but they contain identical pop-up buttons that mirror a section of the GD Macros toolbar. The three circled buttons appear on each of the General buttons. I know this graphic is from a 2003 system; it’s the same one on the 2007 system.
        7. I was unable to expose the Add-Ins tab unless I left the macros template in the Startup folder, so I remmed out the line of code which called the procedure to build the command bar.
        8. With no command bar being built, launching Word failed to expose the Add-Ins tab on the Ribbon.
        9. Uninstalling the Macros Add-In and Re-installing it while inhibiting automacros caused the Add-In tab to appear.
        10. Each of the buttons in the General toolbars fire the appropriate macro in the Macros add-In when the Macros Add-In is installed irrespective of whether the command bar has been built or not.
        11. When the Macros Add-In is not installed the buttons on the General toolbar cause a message that states the macro cannot be found.
        12. If the command bar has been built there are two General buttons.
        13. If the command bar has not been built there is only one General button. Can you tell me how to delete this one?

My next post will contain the code which builds the command bar.

Any insight that you can offer will be greatly appreciated.
