Is there a way to run an Excell macro – in the PERSONAL folder – when the file resides on the server bu the macro resides on a specific workstation?

Thanks in advance for your time.

Macros in your Personal.xls workbook are by default available whenever Excel is running; so you should be able to run the macro against any other workbook, no matter where the workbook is stored.

Can you provide a little more detail as to what you’re trying to do, and what is the problem you’re encountering?

Sorry for not getting back to you sooner.
The Personal.xls file resides on a computer networked to the server. The file resides on the server and is accessed by another computer also networked to the server. So, there really is no link to the Personal.xls stored macro. One of the local guru’s said to store the macro in the worksheet and put the file wherever you want. I have not tried this yet.

Yes, put the macro in the worksheet or workbook of the file on the server. Otherwise, the alternative is for everyone to have a copy of Personal.xls with the same macro, which can result in issues with some people having older (buggy) versions of the macro.
