Our office just ordered a couple dozen new computers to replace about half of the desktops. I’ve been demo’ing Script Logic’s Desktop Authority program for advanced management of those new desktops through login/logoff scripting. Thus far I’ve been real impressed. I’d hate to plunk down the money and find out later there was something a lot better for about the same or less price. Does anyone have any experience with this product who could offer some advice on whether or not this is going to do the trick for us?
My plan is to also change over our users to roaming profiles so when they receive their new computer there won’t be much to do to get them up and running. I also think it’s a much better idea to use roaming profiles for backup purposes (just have to backup one location on the network where they’re stored). The Script Logic program doesn’t do this for me but I’m open to suggestions on any other software or advice on whether I’m on the right trail with this.
I need to roll these desktops out as quickly as possible. They arrive next week and my goal is to start rolling them out by the end of February. Am I crazy to think I can do that in such a short time frame?
