On shut down receive the following message,”Task host window.Task host is executing shutdown tasks, and stopping tasks that are already running.”
This is causing a delay on shutting down.
This problem has suddenly started.
Regards
Dave

AskWoody LoungerJanuary 17, 2013 at 6:46 am #1368777Before starting the shutdown sequence, try going to Task Manager and see what seems to be running. See if something unexpected is running.
Also, try using What’s In Startup or Autorunsto see what is starting with Windows. Is anything unexpected starting?

AskWoody_MVPJanuary 17, 2013 at 7:05 am #1368782There’s a hotfix available which may be relevant: There is a delay when you shut down, restart, or log off a computer that is running Windows 7
I had to uninstall GreenPrint on Windows 7 because it caused delays.

Changing from “Normal Startup” in general is used to troubleshoot only. There is not a good reason to run “Selective startup” as the norm.

If the only thing done is to uncheck unneeded items in the startup tab, there’s nothing wrong with leaving normal startup unchecked. Checkig normal startup reenables them. I’ve had PCs doing this for years. Its not worth the hassle to me to clean out the registry locations and it doesn’t hurt anything.

Depends if do not want some things to run at start up slowing down booting. I have quite a few things disabled from starting up with no problems.

No, to your first post. taskhost.exe is legitimate. It all depends on what tasks are being hosted.
Maybe, to your second post. It depends on what tasks are being hosted. There are tools available to identify the tasks.
Are you asking because your system is performing badly?
What steps have you taken to identify the problem so far?
If you have a performance issue please tell us more about the PC hardware.
