It seems that the tutorials and/or help I have been able to find on Powershell are all a couple versions behind, and that Microsoft has chosen to make changes that make the tutorials at best cumbersome, and near worthless.

    Example:

    <span class=”JCzEY ZwRhJd”>How do I change the default size of PowerShell?
    If you don’t want to resize the window after it has opened with the default size:
      <li style=”list-style-type: none;”>

Press Win+R and submit just powershell.

Open the new window’s system menu, select Properties and configure the window size as desired. Future windows launched the same way will have the same size.

    There is no “Properties” in the window menu. There’s a Settings menu, but without window size choices that I see.

    Are there any up-to-date tutorials for Powershell 7.x?

    Not that I can find so far…

      Pluralsight has a PS 7 course you can use free for 10 days…

      A simple search for “PowerShell 7 tutorial” returns a bunch of resources.

      Another good place to check out and ask questions is r/PowerShell on reddit.

      There is no “Properties” in the window menu. There’s a Settings menu, but without window size choices that I see.

      If the Settings menu opens up another window, see if there are tabs across the top of the window. If there are, see if one of them is labeled “Layout”. If there is one with that title, click on it and you should see listings for things affecting the window’s layout, including an area called, appropriately, “Window Size”. I’m not sure if the sizes shown are in terms of pixels or another unit of measurement, however. 🙁

      See the screenshot below for an example of what the window might look like. Screenshot taken from Windows 10, but Terminal in Windows 11 may be similar.

      I write for PS v4 as it’s “standard” on most boxes. Not had an issue with things not doing what I want.

      cheers, Paul
