Shift Key bypass (Access 2K/XP)

Good morning all,

I have a db that has user level security employed. I type in my user name and password and hold the shift key down before I click ok to bypass the startup screen and view the database window of tables, queries etc. This does not work on this database; used to work, but not any more. I have Full Permissions on this db. Any ideas?? TIA.

It is possible to disable the Shift key bypass. If someone else has done this, you’d have to ask this person whether (s)he built in a backdoor.

Another option would be to import all database objects into a new databae (using the secured .mdw file).

If you can get into the Visual Basic Editor, try this:

Activate the Immediate window (Ctrl+G)
Type

CurrentProject.Properties(“AllowBypassKey”) = True

Press Enter.
If you don’t get an error message, you should be able to use Shift the next time you open the database.

Can you get to the Startup Options? From Menu Bar, Tools | Startup.

I cannot get to the Visual Basic Editor, cannot get to the Tools| Startup options. It looks like someone created custom menus. Screen shot of menu is attached.
