Verio was sold and my site has been moved to the new owners servers at Endurance Intl. It would appear that after 4 days of battling their systems with their tech people most things are working.
I have two remaining problems only one of which I’ll address here:
FTP is acting weird. When I upload a change to an existing file the upload is successful. However the file remains unchanged in browsers on the uploading PC.
On a different PC the file displays with the uploaded change.
It is acting as though I’m not refreshing the page in the browser.
However I am refreshing the page in the browser AND the change does not show in another browser where the page had never been opened. To explain further:
I work in Firefox. I uploaded a page called test2.html to the server and the file shows just fine as uploaded. However after editing a change to test2.html, and uploading the file again, the original version still shows on screen.
Even more strange is that if I open the file in the MS Edge browser, which has never seen the file test2.html, the original version vs. the edited and uploaded version is displayed.
As such this is not a browser caching problem.
Further if I go to a private browsing window in Firefox and enter the page address with ………test2.html?54321 then the 2nd version will finally show in that private browsing window. Going back to a standard window though the original version of test2.html is still displayed.
I’ve opened the file on my cell phone browser and the edited version is displayed so somehow my PC is holding onto the original version……….maybe.
Tech support at the new Verio owner claims it is an issue with my PC operating system (Windows 10). However this was never a problem before my site was migrated.
I’ve done the file transfer with both WS-Ftp and File Explorer in Windows and the results are the same.
Any ideas?
Thanks,
BH
