For sports results publication on the web I am sent an Excel file. Saving as a web page gives an unacceptably large file for members with slow modems. I understand there are utilities available that can strip excess html code from such conversions. Can you point me in the right direction please?

    Thank you

I wouldn’t know about a HTML stripper. Wouldn’t Zipping the file suffice?

Also, When you choose the save as webpage option from the FIle menu, you can select just a range to publish. That would dimish filesize too.

        Thanks Jan, however,
Zipping is not an option as many of our members wouldn’t know what to do with a zipped file. All they want to do is view the results on the screen.

I had selected a range but size still too large for my liking. Thanks anyway.

Is there a lot of nice formatting involved (colours, borders) ?

Maybe removing formatting to the absolute minimum would help.

I believe there are addins for Word to save as HTML without all the extra (XML) tags.
There may be equivalent for Excel.

The links on this page may provide a good starting point.

You can use BBCodes to format your content.
Your account can't use all available BBCodes, they will be stripped before saving.
