    Windows NT4 Server (SP6)…

Our Proxy server appears to leave the COM port to which our ISDN T/A is attached open after ending an ISP call.

This prevents me from using the T/A configuration utility to change settings on the T/A – the software refuses to connect as the “port is already open”.

Is there any software/command built-in to NT server that I can use to close the port?

I’ve tried using hyperterminal to the COMM port but, again, that won’t let me connect to the port. I’ve also tried placing a call via DUN and then disconnecting – the call is made OK, but on hang up the port is still, appratently, open?

    Any ideas?

    Thanks in advance,

    Ade

NB: Have tried complete T/A and RAS re-install – this allows me access via the COM port once; but as soon as a call is made, the port is left open.

Discovered that if you stop the RAS service, the port becomes available for configuration and then have to re-start the RAS service.

      A workaround!
