Hi.

My Pro 4 updated and now the screen does not respond. Many restarts including the + volume trick.

Pad does pinch/zoom, scroll select but nothing from the screen – working one minute before the updates

Hi Woody,
All of the keyboard/pad functions are working but no screen-touch or pen (pen button clicks still open pre-chosen programmes as they should).
It also now takes ages to restart (used to start in seconds). Begins with completely black screen for about 20 seconds and no visible signs of turning on (lights on Fn key for instance) then the SURFACE screen, then the ring and eventually lock screen.
Seems to use the fan more often (it even continued after shut down last night).
After being shut down will only start up with long hold on power switch.
In device manager the Firmware has an exclamation mark on Surface ME saying:
This device cannot start. (Code 10) – An attempt was made to change the attributes on memory that has not been committed.
I contacted Microsoft but they ended up sending me to ‘diagnostic tool’ which (despite me not being able to draw anything on the screen) said all was fine!
They did email me afterwards but have not responded further.
Any ideas Woody?
Without the Surface actually having a usable surface, it’s just a weak laptop with a small screen 🙁

I ran into the same problem with the Surface ME Driver / Touchscreen not responding after July 2018 update.  I have been on with 3 different MS Support people and have gone as far as using USB Recovery Image and it is still not working.

Yes this problem is growing as more Pro 4 users update and find out they don’t have a touch screen or pen input anymore!

 

Woody can you not exert some pressure on this one – basically Microsoft broke our Surfaces with their update (as you can see in the thread you mentioned above) but are doing nothing to assist. It would be interesting if they try and deny responsibility because all the symptoms are exactly the same for everyone and happened immediately after the update!
