GuestFebruary 7, 2013 at 2:18 am #54981Your Tech Watch link for the “Surface Pro reviews are in” goes to https://www.google.com/homepage/search/help.html which is an annoying advert for the Google search engine. No sign of Surface Pro reviews!

I don’t know why, but every time I go to the Tech Watch link, a “make google your default search engine on home page” pops up, whether I am use the I-can’t-rid-of one on Firefox or the one on Chrome. Once I got a message from my machine, a little window, (paraphrase)”something is trying to change your homepage, do you want to keep it as is?” I did follow the instructions on Firefox to have google as my default search, which is what it was when “something” changed it (as described on the earlier blog entry about Questions still remain about JAVA – which is deleted). It couldn’t. I am just watching…resisting…It didn’t interfere with my posting this comment. -

It appears you have a broken link here – I am being sent to https://www.google.com/homepage/search/help.html which asks me to make google my default search provicer when I click the Tech Watch link.

My bad. I posted the wrong link.
The notification about changing your home page means you installed an obnoxious program that felt it should be able to take over your home page. Not clear if it asked for your permission to take over the home page or not, but the extra hook is in there to make sure you know about it.

Thanks so much. I went to the link, but it’s not listed as Delta redirect, etc. nor do I know what CNET freebee I installed it with, other than recently putting Firefox as reinstall. So I think I’ll do the Microsoft Essentials Scan and see if that helps, after I get the Microsoft updates (without NET)…and I’ll get back to you when I can.
Again,thanks. -

The new Surface Pro sold out almost as soon as the store opened in Manhattan on Sat.- the only ten inches of snow was plowed and shoveled/snow blowed. They took names for wait list. I think you told in an article about the RT, that when it went on sale, they didn’t have enough to look like there was heavy interest. I think that’s what they did on Sat.,Feb. 9, the release date for Surface Pro. -
