I have a desktop and a Laptop that I use everyday. How can Synchronize my Outlook folders? I have a zip drive and that is what I use now, but there has to be a better way. I read woody’s book and it recommends using an add-inn called Outlook Synch Folders. But I can’t find that download at Microsoft. Both machines are Internet Mail Only. Microsoft says they don’t support synch on two IMO machines.

i think he wrote his book during the beta when the addin still existed. caught more than a few authors off guard when it was removed after the books all went to publication.

the only better way (that’s still affordable) is to get NIC and a crossover cable – then copy the pst between machines – it’s faster than a zip

MS doesn’t support sync on two CW machines either unless you have exchange – so don’t feel bad.

Do you have two mail addresses? use netfolders. it’s slow and buggy, but works, mostly. Have an imap account? The mail is stored on the server, somewhat like hotmail in OE, and will always be synced. I think copying the pst is probably easier than either of these methods.

Thanks. I am also wondering when I do this why it is called “personal folder” on one machine, Outlook today (personal folders), and on the other machine Outlook today (archive folder). I just copy the same folder back and forth. Does anybody have any suggestions?

          it’s the friendly name.
There are two names associated with a pst – the friendly name and the actual file system name.

right click on the outlook today icon and choose properties. then advanced button. you can change the friendly name there.
